JAMES RIDDLE

Our 2010 winner of the Canadian Fleet Maintenance Manager Award this year was James Riddle of William Day Construction (Day Group) based in Sudbury Ontario. James has served in the industry for over 28 years and is an active member of the Sudbury Organization, where, given his long service as an executive member (18 years) and past president, he has been awarded life membership status. James has also been a loyal supporter of the CFMS having attended for the past 26 years, serving on the CFMS committee for 11 and as Seminar Chairman in 1996.

With the Day Group for the past 8 years James oversees 140+ power units, 135+ trailers and 140+ off highway loaders, dozers, and excavators with an effective and complete maintenance program which he administers over 3 locations; Sudbury, Levack & Timmins. As required James also participates in the spec’ing and pricing of all new equipment.

Realizing the importance of our industries needs James has also been an active promoter of apprentices and the apprenticeship program and currently has 12 apprentices and 3 co-op students in his compliment of 57 maintenance employees. Being a strong advocate of these and similar programs, James also participates as an adviser in the Motive Power Program Advisory Committee at Cambrian College.
